Session 4--A Digital Story of about 3 minutes length on any topic
Our group recomposed a funny story about the "i骨灰瓮", which played a small joke on Steve Jobs and his iphone. The video was made by the app of " Tom and Ben News" that can be downloaded from apple store for free! All the members of our group get together and cooperate on the video task, everyone has their own contribution.

Actually it is an interesting experience for me to do this project!
ReplyDeleteDigital Storytelling is the practice of using computer-based tools to tell stories. Compared with traditional storytelling, most digital stories focus on a specific topic and contain a particular point of view. This time our group focused on the concern of the high house price in HK. We watched a video related to this topic before and then recomposed this funny story by the app of " Tom and Ben News" , which can be downloaded from apple store free.
During the process, we met some challenges: How to coordinate the two cartoon images to tell this story fluently? How to insert pictures into video in synchronization? How to make the content short but impressed? I think to do a digital storytelling is a good practice for collaboration and communication in a group. Students have learnt not only the technical skills, but also the cooperation with other, which is the essential social requirement for twenty-first century.
This kind of course is so rare in Mainland China, because the traditional teacher-centered teaching method still plays the main role in school. Encouraging creativity and special is the main aim of digital storytelling, which is always adequate by mainland students. Sometimes, I suggest that school should turn to innovative education from exam-oriented education.
